Melanie Craig, Sue Ryder's Chief Operating Officer

Melanie stepped out of the NHS after leading the COVID-19 pandemic response and vaccination programme and into a role as CEO of a prominent local charity.

Starting her career as a volunteer in rural Zimbabwe teaching with VSO, Melanie returned to the UK to complete a Masters degree in Health Promotion Sciences at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Melanie has been motivated and passionate about tackling inequalities and injustice throughout her career. Her passion and commitment to end-of-life and palliative care developed further as a trustee of her local hospice.

Melanie joined Sue Ryder as Chief Operating Officer in November 2024.
