Sue Ryder responds to funding boost for hospices in England

26 Feb 2025

Sue Ryder has responded to the government's announcement that more than 170 hospices across England will receive a multi-million pound investment boost for their services and facilities.

James Sanderson, Sue Ryder's Chief Executive, responded to the Government’s investment in hospices:

“Today’s investment from the Government will help hospices, like Sue Ryder, continue to improve the essential care we provide to people with terminal illness.

“We are encouraged by the Prime Minister’s commitment to further improvements to end-of-life care in the upcoming 10 year plan for the NHS, and hope today’s welcome boost indicates a long term commitment from this Government to people at the end-of-life, which is so greatly needed.

“We await that plan with optimism and have sent detailed recommendations to the Government, showing how the hospice sector can reach more of the people who need us within their own homes and within hospitals, while at the same time playing a key role in relieving pressure on the NHS.”
