The Mascot Gold Cup 2025 is organised by Sue Ryder (a charity registered in England and Wales (no. 1052076) and in Scotland (no. SC039578) and a company limited by guarantee incorporated and registered in England and Wales (no. 943228) whose registered office is at Kings House, King Street, Sudbury, Suffolk, CO10 2ED) (“Sue Ryder”) with the kind assistance of the Yorkshire Federation of Young Farmers.
By submitting an entry form participants agree to abide by the following event rules.
Entry
Mascots MUST be aged 16 years or over on 27th April 2025 unless given special dispensation from the organisers.
The identity of each participant who is to run in the Mascot costume must be stated on the entry form. If there is to be a change to this, the organisers must be informed at least 4 days before the race.
Pre-registration is essential. The deadline for inclusion in the race programme is 21st April 2025. Any mascot wishing to enter after this point should call 01535 640 430. Sue Ryder reserves the right to refuse any application which is received after 21st April 2025.
All entries must be made on Sue Ryder’s official Eventbrite entry form, via Sue Ryder’s website or by completing an approved official Sue Ryder entry form.
Each entry must be accompanied by the entry fee detailed in the event profile above.
All participants must be fit and healthy enough to take part in the event. You take part at your own risk, so if unsure seek medical advice in advance. In the event that you incur any injury between the date of your application and the event, please notify Sue Ryder immediately. In such circumstances, Sue Ryder may, at its discretion, defer your place to the following year.
Sue Ryder reserves the right to:
- Reject entries for any reason it may choose. Sue Ryder’s decision shall be final.
- Limit each participating club, charity or business to a maximum of 3 mascots
- Limit the number of participants for reasons of safety and /or logistics.
Prospective participants are therefore encouraged to apply early to secure a place.
Conduct
All participants agree that by entering the Mascot Gold Cup 2024 they accept responsibility for their own actions.
All participants agree to act at all times in a safe manner and so as to not put at risk the health and safety of others.
All participants shall behave in a reasonable and appropriate manner and do nothing which might bring Sue Ryder, the Yorkshire Federation of Young Farmers, the sponsors or the venue into disrepute.
Disqualification
The organisers may disqualify entrants who, in the organisers’ opinion, fail to comply with any of the Rules of Entry. In addition, participants will be automatically disqualified if they:
- Act in a dangerous manner at any time before, during or after the race
- Fail to start from the designated starting point or at the appointed time
- Fail to jump all the fences in the race in the correct order
- Purposely lose any part of their costume or cause other competitors to lose theirs.
- Interfere with the running of any other competitor before or during the race
- Interfere with any aspect of the smooth operation of the racecourse’s activities
- Attempt to cheat before or during the race to improve their performance and overall position during the race or affect the position and performance of other competitors.
Any mascot found to be in breach of any of the foregoing will also be barred from any future events organised by Sue Ryder.
Race Procedures
Sue Ryder shall be responsible for determining all aspects of the race. This shall include the interruption, delay or abandonment of the race or the race meeting, the number of runners in the race, the number of fences in the race, the location of the start and finish of the race and the degree to which mascots will be handicapped.
Sue Ryder reserves the right to amend the rules at its discretion in the interests of the race, the participants and the spectators.
The decisions of Sue Ryder are made in good faith and will be final in all cases. Sue Ryder will in no circumstances enter into any discussion about any aspect of any decisions made.
Dress
If large feet or any other cumbersome items are part of a participant’s official costume they must be worn in the race.
Mascots will be handicapped by the official handicapper who will be using our handicapping system. This will involve placing each mascot into one of 4 or more bands depending on how difficult the costume appears to run in. The start time of the race will differ slightly for each group in order to make the race a fairer contest.
Participants are not allowed to compete in spiked running shoes or any other footwear that may be deemed to be unsafe by Sue Ryder.
Sue Ryder reserves the right to disqualify any mascot whose costume it believes to be unsafe and/or inappropriate.
Personal Data
By including your details in your entry you are consenting to Sue Ryder using them for the purposes of this event.
In future, we may wish to send or contact you with information about our charitable activities, including other fundraising events. Please tick the appropriate box on the entry form to instruct us of your contact preferences.
If at any time in the future you decide that you no longer wish to receive mailings or information, please contact Sue Ryder on 01535 640430 or send an email to manorlands.fundraising@sueryder.org to be removed from the mailing list.
Images may be taken during the event using film photography, digital photography, video or other media and may be used on our website and in promotional material in any medium. By taking part in the event or attending the event you are deemed to have given your consent, unless you notify Sue Ryder of any express objections.
In the event that you raise any objections to the use of any image in which you are featured after the event, Sue Ryder will remove that image from its website and refrain from any future use of it, but cannot undertake to remove from circulation any printed materials already in use.
Sue Ryder acknowledges its responsibilities towards children and younger people and will, wherever possible and practicable, refrain from capturing or using their images.
By agreeing to these terms and conditions, you agree to Sue Ryder allowing racing companies to use footage of the day and your participation within it for their social media and other promotional use. Also that an officially appointed Sue Ryder photogrpaher can take photographs (which you will be sent a copy of) and that he may use in his work as a portrait photographer.
Disclaimer
Sue Ryder accepts no liability whatsoever for any loss of or damage to the property of any participant.
Participants take place at their own risk and Sue Ryder shall only accept liability for death or personal injury where the same is caused by the negligence of Sue Ryder.
Mascots who participate in costumes leant to them by Sue Ryder, borrow them at their own risk and Sue Ryder shall not be liable for any loss or damage sustained by the competitors within them, save for death or personal injury caused by negligence on the part of Sue Ryder.
Cancellation
Sue Ryder reserves the right to cancel the event where it is prevented from holding it by events or circumstances beyond Sue Ryder’s control or if insufficient numbers of mascots apply to participate.
Where Sue Ryder cancels the event it shall at its discretion offer participants a refund of their entry fee, the chance to defer their entry until the event next takes place or entry to an alternative event organised by Sue Ryder (subject to status and availability of places).
