Growing our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion networks
At Sue Ryder, we have four Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) network groups. The networks bring together staff and volunteers with shared lived experiences and identities, plus allies, to support each other and drive forward our ED&I work.

Our ED&I networks are:
- Network for Ethnic Diversity and Equity
- People with Disabilities network
- LGBTQ+ network
- Women and Non-Binary Individuals network
The networks have three key aims:
- To help us understand the communities we serve
- To challenge the organisation to make progress and create opportunities for positive change
- To support our staff and volunteers and encourage people to come together

We'd love for volunteers to get involved
We are growing our ED&I networks and we want to encourage more staff and volunteers to join in. We have recently made some changes to how our networks are run and there are now more ways to show your support and become part of our network communities.
For each network, there are two ways for volunteers to get involved:
- You can become a member of a wider network. This is an informal way to show your support for our ED&I work. Becoming a member won’t involve lots of time joining meetings, but members will be invited directly to upcoming events, including social events, educational masterclasses, learning opportunities and informal network catch ups. You will also receive updates on our ED&I work, including our ED&I newsletter, which includes news from the networks. To join any (or all) of our networks, please speak to your Volunteer Coordinator or contact our Diversity and Inclusion team at diversity.inclusion@sueryder.org
- You can also join one of our network leadership teams. Each network now has a leadership team to drive forward network activities and projects. As a member of a leadership team, you will attend network meetings and be part of the core group of people that lead the network’s initiatives. To find out more about how to get involved, please email diversity.inclusion@sueryder.org
Our ED&I networks have achieved great things for Sue Ryder colleagues in a short period of time, from the launch of our new Rainbow Badge scheme to the introduction of a wide range of celebrations and activities to mark events such as Pride and Black History Month. With your support, the networks will be able to deliver even more lasting change and make Sue Ryder a better place to work and volunteer.
