About your induction
This section will tell you everything you need to know about your induction. All the information you need is in your booklet- and be sure to fill in your name and shop details in the front of your booklet.
About Sue Ryder
Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can access the support they need.
We simply couldn’t provide our vital care without amazing volunteers like you!

Getting to know your shop
In this section, it’s time to get to know your shop- follow the booklet, and talk to your shop team about who you might meet while volunteering with us.
Your health and safety
This section is really important, and you should complete it on your first day.
Firstly, have a chat with your manager if you have a disability or any condition which may impact your volunteering with Sue Ryder. We can work together to make things easier for you, keep you safe and make sure that you have the best experience with us.
They may complete a Risk assessment and/or a personal emergency evacuation plan (PEEP). These are nothing to worry about- and are just there to keep you safe.
Health and Safety Training
You can find all of our health and safety policies and procedures which you need to read through in the shop We Are Sue Ryder Operations Manual.
If the Manual Handling and Health and Safety information in the Operations Manual is too much for you to read and understand, a shorter version can be found below.
If you need help understanding anything about Health and Safety, please speak to your shop manager or the Volunteer Helpline.
Keeping you and others safe
Please take the time to watch the Safeguarding Training video, and the video about conflict and aggression.
These can be found on the Retail homepage on the shop computer, or view the Safeguarding Training video below.
Safeguarding Volunteer Training
Once you have watched these video’s, please tick them off in your booklet, and sign the code of conduct.

Your support means that we can be there when it matters for the people we care for and their families. We care for people through the most difficult times of their lives and we simply could not do that without our amazing volunteers.
