Our volunteer buddy scheme
Our volunteer buddy scheme provides volunteers across the charity with regular support and a friendly face.
Getting the support you need to thrive in your role
At Sue Ryder, our priority is to ensure all volunteers have a happy and rewarding experience with us. In this year’s Volunteer Voice survey, Healthcare and Fundraising volunteers indicated that there was more we could do to ensure that you were receiving the support and encouragement you need to thrive in your roles.
We really appreciate you sharing your experiences with us, and in response to your feedback, we have introduced a brand-new volunteer buddy scheme.
A friendly face
Over the coming months, some volunteers in our Palliative and Fundraising teams will be matched up with new staff buddies, who will be there to check in and support you during your time at Sue Ryder. Volunteer buddies will offer regular catch-ups and will be a friendly face to go to with any questions or problems you may have.
All Healthcare and Fundraising volunteers should have been contacted by their Volunteer Coordinator to explain a bit more about this new scheme. If you have been assigned a new volunteer buddy, your Volunteer Coordinator will be in touch with you over the coming weeks to introduce you and talk a bit more about how this process will work.
In some teams where volunteers are already being well supported by staff members, the set-up will remain the same and so you may not receive a new volunteer buddy. However, if you feel that you could use more support in your role and would like to discuss the possibility of being matched with a volunteer buddy, please speak to your Volunteer Coordinator.
Thank you for your support and thank you again for sharing your views with us.
