Types of shop volunteer roles
At Sue Ryder, we have lots of charity shop volunteer roles that you can get involved in. Across our 400+ shops, volunteers like you play an integral part in our retail teams.
Supporting in so many ways
Across our charity shops, volunteers like you support in so many crucial roles as part of our amazing teams. Working with shop staff, they make our shops great places to visit and mean that we’re able to offer a great shopping experience for everyone.
Our shop volunteers help us to spread the word about Sue Ryder as a charity, connect with the local communities we serve and give a new home to all of the generous donations we receive from supporters.
Meet new people, learn new skills
Not only will you be part of a team helping us to be there when it matters, volunteering in one of our shops is a great way to learn new skills and take on new challenges. You’ll meet lots of new people among the team and out on the shop floor helping customers, in a supportive and encouraging space.
Whether you volunteer in one of our shops for an hour or a few days a week, we greatly value your contribution and the support you’ll provide helps us to raise the vital funds we need to continue providing our expert, compassionate care.
Whatever the amount of time you can spare, we would really love you to join our Sue Ryder shop volunteering team.
Volunteer Shop Assistant
As a volunteer in one of our charity shops, even a couple of hours of your time per week really makes a difference. We have lots of roles available, so whatever you like doing, we would love to meet you.
On the shop floor, use your social and customer service skills as a Volunteer Shop Assistant, and help us to make our stores great places to shop.
Volunteer Stockroom Assistant
As a Volunteer Stockroom Assistant, you can develop your knowledge of fashion and brands to make sure we make the most of the fantastic donations we receive every day in our shops across the UK.
Working behind the scenes to sort through donations and preparing them for the shop floor, this role is key to making sure we can provide a good quality, varied selection of items for customers to browse through.
Department Specialist
If you have a special interest, such as books, vinyl records, period furniture or vintage and retro items, we can offer more specialist roles to you. You could even help us with our online sales by taking photographs and listing items.
We sell pre-loved items on our Instagram, Depop and Pre-loved eBay shop, so there are always gems to find and post online for people to see.
Lead Volunteers and training
If you are looking to take on extra responsibility, we have fantastic Lead Volunteer opportunities nationwide. Receive an enhanced level of training in store and via e-learning to boost your skills and confidence to support the day to day running of the shop in the absence of the management team.
