Develop and progress
Our Learning and Organisational Development team are dedicated to developing you and progressing your career. Here is a list of the opportunities we provide:
Sue Ryder Knowledge Academy
We offer structured external learning opportunities to paid colleagues at Sue Ryder in England, with qualifications at all levels.
Whether you're looking to make the next big step in your career or you're keen to enter a new stage of your professional development, the Sue Ryder Knowledge Academy is for you.
New starter journey
We are making great progress with developing a culture and people-focused onboarding and induction programme which highlights your talent and provides you with the knowledge and skills to perform at your best.
Coaching culture
For current or aspiring coaches, our programme aims to develop capabilities and progress coaching skills to deliver required outcomes. Benefits include coaching supervision and development sessions that stretch the development of these core skills.
If you and your line manger choose for you to have coaching as a personal development option, our positive and supportive coaches will help drive your journey towards success.
Blended learning
We take a blended approach to learning. This enables us to engage all types of learners. We use our Sue Ryder Virtual Classroom and traditional in-person classroom methods as well as online learning and e-Learning. The blended approach helps you to learn at your pace in your preferred way.
Valuing performance
We understand people are our greatest asset in Sue Ryder.
We also know that it's vital to understand what is expected of you and that's why we have a clear, easy-to-use performance review system that promotes transparency.
You will agree clear objectives with your manager and we will ensure you have the necessary skills, resources and support to achieve them. Our appraisal system incorporates self-reflection, two-way feedback, and learning and development.
Leadership development
Our leadership programmes are our commitment to supporting our managers to develop and refine management and leadership capabilities. We offer two regularly run programmes: INSPIRE for our managers new in their role and SUCCEED for our senior management.
Wellbeing
Our certified Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) programme is a structured development programme to support people who want to join our team of Mental Health First Aiders. Please contact the Learning and Organisational Development Team for more information.
Celebrating success
Each year, Sue Ryder celebrates the success of its staff and volunteers through its annual organisational awards, the “Values in Practice” or VIP Awards. The awards celebrate each of the organisational values and behaviours and an overall winner. The awards are nominated and judged by colleagues across the whole organisation.
